THE ST JOHN'S ROD & GUN CLUB
- NOW A HALF CENTURY OLD
The St. John's Rod and Gun Club was formed in the 1950's, when a group of target
shooters, sportsmen, sportswomen, and conservationists gathered together to create
a safe place to practice their shooting skills and enjoy the outdoor life.
The Club also has a deep commitment to the protection of our province's wildlife
and environment. The Club executive cooperates freely with organizations such as
the Newfoundland and Labrador Wildlife Federation, and with Ducks Unlimited, on
the issues of conservation and protection of the environment. The Club has developed
its property into a wildlife sanctuary, and hunting is strictly forbidden on club
grounds. We instruct our members and their families in firearms safety, as well
as in the importance of conservation and ethical outdoor conduct.
There are many outdoor and indoor activities that members and their families can
enjoy. Hiking, nature walks, fishing, camping, canoeing, outdoor cook-ups, barbecues,
shooting trap, sporting clays, pistol and rifle shooting, or just curling up on
a couch in the lodge with a roaring fire in the fireplace. There is something for
every outdoors person, regardless of age or gender.
Why not come up for a visit, and bring a friend along? We welcome you to check out
our facilities, and friendly atmosphere.
